Authorities have arrested a 34-year-old Sterling man accused of abducting and assaulting a woman on a walking trail in Loudoun County.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says Rolando Sanchez Velasquez, an undocumented non-citizen, was arrested in connection with the July 15th incident near Algonkian Parkway and Lowes Island Boulevard.
Deputies say the female victim was approached and grabbed, but courageously fought off her attacker and escaped to call 9-1-1. Velasquez faces charges of abduction and assault and battery, along with outstanding warrants for child neglect. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, and an immigration detainer is on file.
Police say tips from the public helped investigators make the arrest.
