Darwin Carcamo-Santiago
A murder investigation in Columbia has led Howard County police to issue an arrest warrant for a 24-year-old man who detectives believe may have left the area.
Darwin Carcamo-Santiago is wanted on first- and second-degree murder charges in the death of his girlfriend, 35-year-old Esmeralda Perez-Mendez of Takoma Park. Police responded to a home in the 9000 block of Watchlight Court Sunday afternoon after an acquaintance of Carcamo-Santiago found Perez-Mendez deceased in the suspect’s bedroom.
Investigators say the victim had injuries consistent with strangulation and believe she may have been killed during the overnight hours of July 25th and 26th. Anyone with information about Carcamo-Santiago’s whereabouts is asked to contact Howard County police.
