A Hedgesville, West Virginia man is facing felony arson charges following an investigation into a July fire in Oakland, Maryland.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says 43-year-old Chad Edward Care is charged with first- and second-degree arson and two counts of first-degree malicious burning. Investigators say the fire happened July 30th near the zero block of Dobbin Road. Deputy State Fire Marshals and an accelerant-detection K-9 determined the fire was intentionally set by one of the property owners following a family dispute.
A greenhouse and two camper trailers were destroyed. The total loss is estimated at 40-thousand dollars. Care was served with a criminal summons Thursday at Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County.
