Fire officials are investigating a Sunday night barn fire that destroyed a structure north of Burkittsville.
Crews were called around 10:50 p.m. to the 1200 block of Marker Road after the barn was reported fully engulfed in flames. The Frederick County Office of the Fire Marshal says investigators believe the fire was accidental, although the investigation is not complete.
No injuries were reported, and no animals were harmed. The barn, which contained round bales of hay, was considered a total loss. Firefighters faced an additional danger from a live electrical wire at the scene.
The amount of damage has not been determined.
