Six current and former Metropolitan Police Department members are facing arrest warrants in connection with an alleged overtime fraud scheme.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia says the individuals are accused of claiming pay for overtime and regular duty hours they did not work during 2024. Prosecutors allege some members claimed overtime while traveling, on annual leave, or outside the District. Investigators also say official records were manipulated, supervisor approvals were forged, and some employees used administrative positions to process fraudulent overtime.
The investigation included body-camera footage, GPS and cellphone data, toll and license-plate records, travel and leave records, emails, access logs and MPD overtime records. After their arrests, the six are expected to face charges of first-degree fraud, first-degree theft, forgery and uttering.
