Boonsboro is receiving $250,000 in federal funding to rehabilitate its aging wastewater system.
The Appalachian Regional Commission grant, announced by U.S. Senators Van Hollen and Alsobrooks and Congresswoman McClain Delaney, will support inspections of approximately 20,000 linear feet of sewer mains to identify sources of infiltration.
Deteriorated sections will be repaired using cured-in-place pipe lining. The work is designed to reduce wastewater overflows during rain events, lower treatment costs and improve service for 42 businesses and 475 households.
The funding builds on more than $1.4 million in federal support previously secured for Boonsboro’s wastewater and sewage system improvements.
