A former Baltimore caregiver has been sentenced for abusing a vulnerable adult in her care at an Ellicott City home. Twenty-eight-year-old Asia Monet Williams received a 10-year prison sentence, with all but six months suspended. She received credit for the six months already served and was placed on three years of supervised probation. During that time, Williams is prohibited from providing healthcare services to vulnerable adults.
Williams pleaded guilty to second-degree assault involving a 21-year-old intellectually disabled adult with autism and significant medical needs. Prosecutors say video from April 2023 showed Williams dragging the victim by her feet and arms and kicking her while forcing her toward a bedroom. The following morning, the victim reported pain and abuse to her teacher. A school nurse found bruising, abrasions, a reddened scalp, and a small patch of missing hair. This was Williams’s second trial after an earlier conviction was overturned on appeal.
