Voters across the region have several important dates to keep in mind ahead of the November 3, 2026, General Election.
Maryland
In Frederick, Washington, Carroll and Montgomery counties, the regular voter registration deadline is October 13. Voters who miss that deadline can still register and vote in person during early voting or on Election Day.
Early voting will be held October 22 through October 29, with early voting centers open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eligible voters who register during early voting must provide documentation showing their Maryland residence.
For mail-in voting, the deadline to request a ballot to be mailed or faxed is October 27. The deadline to request a ballot for print-at-home delivery is October 30. Completed mail-in ballots must be postmarked by November 3 or deposited at an approved drop box or local election board by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Pennsylvania
In Adams and Franklin counties, the voter registration deadline is October 19. The deadline to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot is 5 p.m. October 27. Completed ballots must be received by the county election office by 8 p.m. November 3. Pennsylvania voters can also apply for and complete a mail ballot in person at their county election office before Election Day. There is no early voting mechanism currently in place in Pennsylvania.
West Virginia
For voters in Berkeley and Jefferson counties, the voter registration deadline is October 13. Early voting runs October 21 through October 31. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is October 28, and absentee ballots generally must be hand-delivered to the County Clerk by November 2.
Virginia
In Loudoun County, early voting is scheduled to begin September 18 and continues through October 31. The voter registration and absentee-ballot application deadline is October 23. Virginia also permits eligible voters who miss the registration deadline to register and cast a provisional ballot through Election Day.
The General Election is Tuesday, November 3.
