Washington County voters will have two opportunities in October to hear from candidates for local offices ahead of the November general election.
The Washington County League of Women Voters and the Hagerstown Area Religious Council will host candidate forums on Oct. 1 and Oct. 15 at the Washington County Free Library, 100 S. Potomac St. in downtown Hagerstown.
Both forums will run from 6 to 8 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
The Oct. 1 forum will feature Washington County Board of Education candidates. The Oct. 15 forum will focus on candidates for Washington County Board of Commissioners.
Residents can submit questions for candidates through HARC’s website. Organizers also may accept additional question suggestions during the early portion of each forum.
Antietam Broadband will livestream the forums on channels 6 and 806 and will rebroadcast them.
The Washington County Chamber of Commerce had planned several candidate forums in October but canceled them because of a lack of candidate participation. The Chamber continues to offer an online election guide through its website.
The general election is Nov. 3. Early voting in Maryland will be held Oct. 22 through Oct. 29, and mail-in ballots are being distributed.
