A traffic stop in Carroll County has led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man after deputies say they found approximately 67 grams of suspected cocaine inside his vehicle.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were conducting traffic enforcement on Baltimore Boulevard shortly before 10 Wednesday morning when they spotted a Chevrolet Malibu with Pennsylvania registration traveling westbound from Baltimore County into Carroll County.
Deputies noticed the vehicle had extremely dark window tint and then saw the driver fail to stop for a steady red light at the intersection of Emory Road. The vehicle was pulled over near Route 140 and Emory Road.
Deputies say the driver told them he did not have a physical driver’s license and provided a name and date of birth that were determined to be fictitious. Further investigation identified him as 40-year-old Geoffrey Davis of Pennsylvania. Deputies also discovered he had two active warrants out of Adams County.
A K-9 was brought in to scan the vehicle and alerted to the odor of controlled dangerous substances. During a subsequent search of the vehicle and Davis, deputies found about 67 grams of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, 240 dollars in cash, and a cellular phone.
Davis was arrested and taken to the Carroll County Detention Center. He is charged with drug possession and possession with intent to distribute.
