A grand jury indictment is now adding a firearm charge to the case against a Frederick man accused of fatally shooting his roommate.
87-year-old Irwin Dickstein is charged with first-degree murder and using a firearm in a felony or crime of violence. The case involves the September 20 death of 63-year-old Michael Bushnell inside their Franklin Street home.
Frederick police responded after the Sheriff’s Office received information that Dickstein had reportedly admitted shooting his roommate to a witness. Bushnell was found dead inside the unsecured residence. Dickstein has been held without bail since a September 21 hearing and was ordered to undergo an inpatient competency examination.
A competency hearing is set for October 13.
