Five people, including a juvenile, are facing multiple charges following a reported armed home invasion in Mount Airy early Tuesday morning.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 12:20 a.m. to the 14-thousand-400 block of Black Ankle Road for a reported assault involving several people and the discharge of a firearm.
When deputies arrived, they saw a white GMC Yukon leaving the area and stopped the vehicle. Inside were 19-year-old Jeremiah Michael Mayhew and 20-year-old Joshua Lee Mayhew Jr., both of Libertytown; 18-year-old Destin Jerrell Braxton and 23-year-old Brennan Tyler Summers, both of Frederick; and a 16-year-old juvenile male. Deputies say they found a loaded nine-millimeter handgun on the rear passenger-side floorboard. Loose ammunition matching the firearm was also found in Joshua Mayhew Jr.’s pocket.
Deputies then spoke with the victim, who reported that the suspects forcibly entered his home while armed with a handgun and assaulted him inside. All five individuals were arrested. The four adults were taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, while the juvenile was processed through the Department of Juvenile Services.
Charges include first- and second-degree assault, handgun violations and home invasion.
