An investigation into a shooting in Leesburg has resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man.
Trevon Taylor was taken into custody October 28th and charged in connection with an October 17th incident in the 500 block of East Market Street.
Police say Taylor contacted officers after an early-morning altercation and reported that he had been physically assaulted by multiple people. He told investigators he fired a gun because he believed he was acting in self-defense. However, police say the investigation found that Taylor left the scene, then returned to the parking lot a short time later and fired several rounds at an unoccupied vehicle.
Taylor faces charges including felony property damage, reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school. He remains held without bond, and the investigation is continuing.
