A murder investigation involving a deadly setup over a marijuana purchase has resulted in a 45-year prison sentence for one of two defendants.
This week, 21-year-old Demari Brown of Montgomery Village was sentenced to life in prison, with all but 45 years suspended, followed by five years of supervised probation.
Brown pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the April 26th, 2025, shooting death of 20-year-old Henry Gilbert.
Police say Gilbert was found dead inside his Honda Civic on Brookridge Court in Gaithersburg. Investigators determined Brown and co-defendant Jorden Hungerford used social media to pose as a female friend and lure Gilbert to the location with an offer to purchase 70 dollars’ worth of marijuana. The men then robbed and shot him.
Hungerford was found guilty of murder and armed robbery in May. He is scheduled to be sentenced November 6, 2026.
