Federal officers stopped a wanted man from boarding an international flight at Dulles Airport Wednesday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says 35-year-old Balmore Perez de la Cruz of Winchester was preparing to depart for San Salvador, El Salvador, when officers discovered an active warrant for his arrest. He is wanted by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia on felony kidnapping and child abuse charges.
Officers confirmed his identity and the outstanding warrant before taking him into custody. Authorities also determined he had been ordered removed from the United States by an immigration judge in 2018. Perez de la Cruz was turned over to law enforcement officials.
