Trial Of Va. Man Charged With Murder In Frederick County, Md. To Begin In Circuit Court

Frederick, Md (KM) Jury selection was completed on Monday in the trial of Lemuel Lee Roberts, 34. . The Winchester, Virginia man is charged with 1st-degree murder in Frederick County for the death of his ex-wife more than three years ago.

The body of Kaitlin Nichole Roberts, 31, of Winchester, Va., was found during the early morning hours of January 11th, 2020 along the roadway in the area of English Muffin Way and English Muffin Court.  The Medical Examiner’s Office determined she had been stabbed 32 times. It also says the victim’s body had “road rash” as she had been dragged along the road by a vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says investigators found Roberts’ vehicle and phone near the crime scene.

Roberts was taken into custody later on in the day, January 11th, 2020,  in Winchester, Virginia.  The next day, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant charging Roberts with 1st-degree murder. He was eventually extradited back to Maryland.

The State’s Attorney’s Office says due to scheduling conflicts, opening statements in Lemuel Roberts’ trial won’t begin until Wednesday morning.
