Md. 28 Bridge Over Monocacy River In Frederick County To Close This Saturday

SHA says the one-day closure will allow pre-construction work to be done on the span.

Frederick, Md (KM) The Maryland State Highway Administration says the Md 28 (Dickerson Road) bridge over the Monocacy River in Frederick County will be closed this coming Saturday, May 10th. . This will allow the project team to take measurements and perform pre-construction repair work.

SHA says the bridge is safe for motorists to use, but it was damaged when a large truck hit it in October, 2024.

The closure will last from 7:00 Am until 4:00 PM.   Traffic heading westbound will be detoured to Md 85 (Buckeystown Pike) then on to Md. 80 (Fingerboard Road).  From there, motorists will  drive   to Md. 109 to get back on Md. 28.  . Eastbound motorists will use the same routes.

Highway officials say making structural repairs to the bridge will require a weekend closure.  SHA says a date will be announced later this month.
