Rockville, MD (DG) – An elderly woman reported missing in Derwood has been found dead, and police say her son and his roommate are responsible.
On Friday, August 15, Montgomery County Police responded to the Muncaster Road home of 81-year-old Victoria Ellen Shay. Officers spoke with her son, 60-year-old Daniel Paul Shay, who claimed he hadn’t seen his mother in four days. But detectives discovered evidence inside the house suggesting a crime had occurred.
The investigation led authorities to Route 124 and Brink Road, where Victoria Shay’s body was located. An autopsy is pending, but police are treating the case as a homicide.
Daniel Shay has been charged with first-degree murder. His roommate, 59-year-old Dwayne Anthony Embrey, is accused of helping to dispose of the body and faces charges of accessory after the fact.
Both men are in custody at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit as detectives continue gathering evidence.
