Baltimore, MD (JK) –The Maryland Lottery has announced the winners of its first-ever Maryland Treasures Art Contest, selecting four artists from nearly 2,200 entries. The winning pieces will be featured on the Maryland Treasures scratch-off ticket, scheduled to go on sale in March 2026.

Launched on July 1, the contest invited Maryland residents to submit original works celebrating the state’s history, landmarks, culture, and traditions. Officials had planned to choose three winners but expanded the list to four because of the quality of the submissions. More than 700 residents participated, with each allowed to submit up to five pieces.

Each winner will receive a $4,000 prize. The artists selected include Julia Chiplis of Frederick and Gia Coakley of Mount Airy. The Maryland Lottery says all four designs will give the new ticket a distinctive look that reflects the state’s heritage.
