Frederick City Officials Warn About A ‘Phishing’ Scam

It asks citizens to send a fee by wire transfer.

Frederick, Md (KM) The City of Frederick is reminding residents, business people and artists about a “phishing” scam.

E-mails posing as being from the City’s Public Arts Commission are saying that a mural proposal has been approved, and they request payment of an “Application Review and Approval Fee” to be sent by wire transfer.   Frederick City officials say they do not request payment for public art applications through e-mail,. and no fees are processed through wire transfers.

If you receive this type of e-mail, officials do not reply, click links or send money; and do not share any personal information.
