Gettysburg, PA. (DG) – Over the weekend in Gettysburg, a historic Civil War monument was damaged in a traffic collision. A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Emmitsburg Road and Wheatfield Road in Gettysburg National Military Park sent one car into the Army of the Potomac, Third Corps Headquarters monument, officials said.
Park authorities reported the incident happened Saturday morning and, thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
According to a Facebook post from the park, National Park Service staff will assess the monument’s condition this week and begin planning its reset in the coming weeks.
