A Frederick man has died following a one-vehicle crash on Monday morning. State Police say Scott A. Ruetten, 59, passed away shortly after his arrival at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
Troopers say Ruetten was traveling southbound along Route 550 near Old Frederick Road when he lost control of his car, which crossed the northbound lanes and struck a large tree. After hitting the tree, the vehicle came back to the roadway and overturned. Troopers say Ruetten was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his car.
Ruetten was medivaced to Shock Trauma where he succumbed to his injuries.
State Police say Route 550 at Old Frederick Road was closed for about two hours while an investigation into the crash was conducted.
