Former Sheriff of Frederick County, Carl Harbaugh Passes Away

A former Sheriff of Frederick County has died. On Friday, June 3rd, Carl Harbaugh passed away at the Kline Hospice House. He was 76 years old.

A former Sheriff of Frederick County has died. On Friday, June 3rd, Carl Harbaugh passed away at the Kline Hospice House. He was 76 years old.

Tim May has known Harabugh for over 40 years and said after spending time in the Air Force—Harbaugh joined the State Police where he rose through the ranks and retired as the first commander of the Internal Affairs Unit and Commander of the Special Operations Division.

“Carl had a great sense of humor, he also had no nonsense so you had to understand Carl to enjoy being around him and I did that for over 40 years. A straight, hard-hitting policeman, knowing always right and wrong and serving Frederick County and the State Police for many, many years,” said May.

Harbaugh passed away at the Kline Hospice House. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church on East Church Street.
