Copper Sulfate Spraying On Lake Linganore & Fishing Creek Rescheduled For Friday

The City says it’s due to rain in the forecast for Thurs.


Frederick, Md. (KM) The  Frederick Public Works Department  says the copper sulfate spraying at Lake Linganore and Fishing Creek, Reservoir originally scheduled for Thursday,  will take place on Friday, August 19th, That’s because rain is the weather forecast for Thursday.

Officials say the spraying is necessary to treat and control odor causing algae.

Public Works crews will spray 180 pounds of copper sulfate to Lake Linganore and four pounds to Fishing Creek. The crystals will be diluted with water and a concentration of dissolved copper, and will be sprayed along the shore lines.

The spraying will take place on Friday  from 8:00 AM until 11:30 AM along Lake Linganore;  and from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM along Fishing Creek Reservoir.

The process will be rescheduled in the case of rain.
