KENSINGTON, Md. (AP) — Police say an 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a pregnant 19-year-old woman in Kensington.
Montgomery County police say Dakota Brothers was in a relationship with the victim, although it’s not clear whether he’s the father of her baby.
The stabbing occurred Wednesday afternoon behind a home. Police say Brothers stabbed the woman several times. She was conscious when emergency workers arrived and identified Brothers as her attacker. Police say she’s in critical condition at a hospital. Police did not detail the condition of her fetus.
Police say plainclothes officers found Brothers within an hour of the slaying and that he tried to run away after officers approached.
Brothers is being held without bond. No attorney was listed for him in online court records.
