School officials are inviting parents and community members to attend several redistricting meetings to determine who will attend Butterfly Ridge Elementary School
FREDERICK, Md (DG)-The new Butterfly Ridge Elementary School construction will start in the spring of 2017 and the school is slated to open in August 2018. Frederick County Public School officials are inviting parents and community members to attend several redistricting meetings to determine who will attend.
Tiana Hayle, Community Engagement Director with Frederick County Public Schools, said one meeting will take place tonight at Hillcrest Elementary School at 6:30 PM
“We do consider the people and the families who attend these meetings, but we also want them to know that although we consider all the information, we have to make the best decisions to meet the needs of the most families involved,” said Hayle.
The next meeting is set for October 4th at Orchard Grove Elementary School.
“If you look at the population of Frederick County it’s growing by leaps and bounds and in these two particular communities the number of the students at the schools are at such a rate that we want to be able to create new facilities to be able to make room to have sufficient space for the children to grow and for the schools to have enough classrooms, enough space for academics as well as for physical activity,” said Hayle.
Redistricting process is beginning now and is expected to be completed by the summer 2017.
