It happened on I-81 near I-70 Friday morning.
Hagerstown, Md (KM) Two people were taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle collision Friday morning in Washington County.
State Police say Saprena Smitherman, 33, of Martinsburg, West Virginia was traveling northbound along Interstate 81 south of I-70 when her Ford E-150 Van struck the rear of a Dodge Journey operated by Leslie Vanorsdale of Inwood, West Virginia. That caused Smitherman’s van to overturn. The impact from the collision caused Journey to strike the rear of a Mazda Tribute driven by Nicholette Unkiser of Falling Waters, West Virginia.
Vanorsdale and Unkiser were taken to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries. Smitherman refused treatment.
Troopers say Smitherman was not giving full attention to her driving, and was issued a traffic citation.
The two vehicles which were struck had stopped along I-81 due to a traffic backup near the exit with I-70, according to troopers.
