Fire Damages Apartment Building In Union Bridge

One fire fighter was injured.

Union Bridge, Md (KM) Fire damaged a four-story apartment building in Union Bridge late Tuesday night.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says 45 fire fighters responded to the one-alarm blaze at 20 South Main Street at around 11:30 PM, and spent 37-minutes bringing the flames under control. One fire fighter broke his ankle while battlingĀ  the fire.

Damage is estimated at 50-thousand dollars to the structure and $50,000 to the contents, totaling $100,000.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire originated in the living room area, but the cause remains under investigation.

Investigators say the fire was discovered by an occupant.
