He was a promising Christian rapper.
CLARKSBURG, Md. (AP) – A 26-year-old aspiring Christian rapper has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for intentionally running over a friend during an argument about CDs.
Ryan Salandy was sentenced Monday in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County for the hit-and-run death of William McDaniel. Prosecutors said in a statement that Judge Anne K. Albright sentenced Salandy to 30 years but suspended 12 of those years. Salandy, who is from Germantown, Maryland, will spend five years on probation after being released.
Police have said Salandy produced some of McDaniel’s music and the two were having a contractual dispute when Salandy intentionally ran over McDaniel and fled. Police say a witness described Salandy’s car to investigators and Salandy’s mother called authorities and told them her son had been involved in a hit-and-run.
