The driver tried to cross Route 15 from Angleberger Road while his vehicle was hit by a SUV.
FREDERICK, MD (DG)-A two vehicle accident claimed the life of a Walkersville man Tuesday morning in Frederick.
Maryland State Police responded to an accident on Route 15 northbound at Angleberger Road at 9:20 AM.
When troopers arrived on scene, they found a Ford Fusion and Jeep Grand Cherokee had been involved in an accident.
Investigators determined that Michael Hartman Sr. was driving a Ford Fusion and tried to cross the northbound lanes of Route 15 at Angleberger Road.
Hartman drove into the path of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Heather Crummitt, who was traveling northbound on Route 15.
The Jeep struck the Ford on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Hartman died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
Crummitt and two children in her SUV, were all transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The investigation into the accident is continuing. Route 15 northbound was shut down at the accident scene for nearly 3 hours while police reconstructed the scene.
