Two Arrested Following Burglary & Vehicle Chase

Deputies recovered stolen items and a handgun.

 


Frederick, Md (KM) Two men were arrested following a break-in in Middletown Tuesday afternoon. Kenneth Lamont Howard of Annapolis is charged with illegal possession of a handgun, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a handgun on his person, attempting to flee and elude police and driving without a license. Xavier Currie of Hyattsville, Maryland is charged with resisting arrest, obstructing and hindering, being in possession of a firearm after a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun in a vehicle and having a handgun on his person.

Both men are 24 years of age.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to Larch Lane in Middletown for a burglary in progress. They met witnesses who gave them suspect and vehicle descriptions.

A car fitting the  description was spotted traveling eastbound on Interstate 70. A brief chase followed when the driver refused to pull over. The suspect vehicle struck a curb along Route 85 and Spectrum Drive. The driver remained at the scene, but the passenger fled. But he was located at a nearby business.

A search was performed on the driver identified as Howard resulted in the recovery a handgun. Currie was a passenger in the vehicle.

Both men are suspects in several burglaries along Larch Lane in Middletown, according to The Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Section.

A search and seizure warrant was served on the vehicle on Wednesday, February 15. Deputies found numerous stolen items from homes in Middletown. Also recovered was property linked to victims in other jurisdictions.
