Police Warn Of Potomac Edison Scam

Callers claim to be from the utility and say you have an overdue electric bill.

Frederick, Md (KM) Several businesses in Frederick have been receiving calls from individuals who claim to be from Potomac Edison. Police say the callers don’t demand money, but say these companies are overdue on their electric bills; and if they don’t pay up, the power will be shut off.

Authorities say the businesses immediately hung up the phone, and contacted Potomac Edison. The utility says they are not delinquent.

Police say if you receive such a call, hang up, and contact Potomac Edison to check on the status of your bill.
