Citizens Police Academy Forming

Students will learn about the work of law enforcement officers.

 

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) If you want  to know more about law enforcement, you’re invited to sign up for the Frederick Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy which starts on June 13th.

 

Residents taking the eight-week program will learn the many aspects of law enforcement, including uniformed patrol, criminal investigations, and undercover and tactical operations. There are also hands-on and interactive segments, defensive tactics and field sobriety.

 
Participants will receive a certificate when they complete the program, but will not be sworn in as police officers, or be expected perform any law enforcement duties. But they will have a better understanding of the Frederick Police Department.

 

The Citizens Police Academy is open to Frederick city residents or those with business interests in the city, as well as  county residents. They must be 18-years of age or older, and have no criminal history. The deadline to enroll is June 8th.

 

Classes will meet every Tuesday from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
