WV Man Arrested With Large Quantity Of Suspected Marijuana

He was apprehended during a traffic stop.


Frederick, Md (KM) More than 500-grams of suspected marijuana was found during a traffic stop Sunday in Frederick County.

The Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a Jeep Cherokee along Interstate 70 east of Frederick. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy detected a faint odor of marijuana and asked for a canine unit to respond.

The dog did a sniff of the Cherokee and gave a positive alert for drugs in the vehicle. A deputy conducted a search, and found the pot inside a backpack.

The satchel contained one heat-sealed bag containing 393.0 grams of suspected pot; one plastic bag containing suspected marijuana (73.2 grams); five plastic sandwich bags with about 28 grams each of suspected marijuana (total 140 grams); one plastic bag with 15.0 grams of suspected pot; about 60 empty sandwich bags identical to the bags which contained the pot; and one black digital scale with suspected marijuana residue.

Joshua Lee Rutherford of Moorfield, West Virginia was taken to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with possession of marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute pot.
