The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has expanded the * Flash Flood Watch to include portions of north central Maryland and Virginia, including the following areas, in north central Maryland, Frederick MD. In Virginia, Albemarle, Culpeper, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Fauquier, Orange, Rappahannock, Southern Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Western Loudoun. * Until 8 PM EDT this evening * A cold front will move through the area this afternoon. Widespread showers and thunderstorms with scattered intense rainfall rates will continue to spread across the area. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected with localized amounts of 3 to 4 inches possible which could result in flash flooding. * Flash flooding of creeks, streams and roadways will be possible, especially in urban and poor drainage areas.
