One Man Dead, A Woman In Custody Following Officer Involved Shooting In Mount Airy

No officers were hurt.


Mount Airy, Md (KM) One man  is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Mount Airy on Monday.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says three  Howard County Police Officers were in Frederick County for a multi-jurisdictional investigation into a series of burglaries. During that time, the officers observed a burglary in progress along Manor Drive, which is in Frederick County, . and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. They  were told to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect’s van.

During the traffic stop, the suspect van rammed the Howard County Officers’ car on Penn Shop Road near Route 27, and drove toward the officers who were outside of their car. Two officers fired on the suspect, who died.  Another suspect was taken into custody.

The individual who was fatally shot was a man.  The other occupant of the occupant was a woman.  The Sheriff’s Office has not released any names.

None of the officers was injured.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is handling this investigation.

Penn Shop Road in the area near Route 27 was closed for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation.
