Tractor Trailer Driver Killed In One-Vehicle Crash

He was hauling a cargo of alcoholic beverages at the time.

 

Hagerstown, Md (KM) The driver of a tractor trailer hauling alcoholic beverages was killed in a one-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Washington County. Clarence G. Bell, 57, of Goshen, New York was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maryland State Police say Bell was driving his rig northbound along Interstate 81 at Showalter Road near the Hagerstown Regional Airport when he traveled off the roadway. The tractor trailer struck a guardrail and went down an embankment. The truck overturned, spilling its cargo of alcohol.

State Police say speed does not appear to be a factor in this accident as witnesses told troopers Bell was traveling at a normal speed at the time.

The investigation into this crash is continues.
