Union Bridge, Md (KM) One person was injured as a result of a house fire Wednesday afternoon in the Union Bridge area.
60 fire fighters were dispatched to 444 Bucher John Road, and spent 45-minutes bringing the flames under control. Some Frederick County fire fighters were also dispatched to help put out the fire.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says Thomas Barnes was taken to Carroll General Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, but was later released.
Damage is estimated at $80,000 to the structure, and $20,000 to the contents.
Officials say the 30-foot by 40-foot one-story wood frame structure being used as a home was not equipped with sprinklers or smoke alarms.
Investigators say the fire originated in a rear bedroom, but the cause remains under investigation.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
