Early Morning Accident Closes I-70

Truck driver lost control and ran off the road.

Hancock, Md. (DG) – An accident involving a tractor-trailer carrying frozen food shut down Interstate-70 eastbound in Washington County for several hours this morning.

Maryland State Police report the accident occurred on 70 eastbound at around 2:45 AM in between Concrete Hill and Raylock Drive.

Police say the driver of the tractor trailer lost control and ran off to the left side of the roadway. The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

70 eastbound was closed at the accident scene for nearly 7-hours.

Police believe weather was a factor in the accident.
