Investigation Continues Into Inmate Death At Carroll County Detention Center

The Sheriff’s Office says it found no evidence of foul play.

Westminster, Md (KM) The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the death of an inmate.

Deputies were dispatched to the Carroll County Adult Detention Center at around 12:48 on Tuesday afternoon for a report of an unresponsive inmate. They learned that Brian Christopher Robinson, 35, of Baltimore was asleep in the Work Release Unit when other inmates tried to wake him up for his shift in the kitchen. Correctional Deputies were called to the scene for assistance after Robinson was unresponsive. The medical staff at the Detention Center was also brought in and an ambulance was dispatched.

He was pronounced dead at around 12:30 PM.

Robinson’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

The Sheriff’s Office says the cause of death has not been determined, but it appears there was no evidence of foul play at the scene.   He had no other contact with inmates at the time he went to sleep, and when fellow inmates tried to wake him up, authorities say.

Detectives and Forensic Services Technicians from the Investigative Services Section are continuing their investigation.
