Thurmont Man Killed In ATV Accident.

Authorities say the victim was pinned under the vehicle.

Thurmont, Md (LPG). A Thurmont man was killed in a freak accident Thursday afternoon after he went out hunting with a friend.

Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson says Anthony Eyler, 57, was found pinned under an ATV that apparently flipped over on top of him in an area near the 15,000 block of Sabillsville Road.

“The Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the body for the purposes of an autopsy, and our investigation remains open,” Thomson says.

She says Eyler was believed to be driving up some rough terrain when the accident happened. He and a relative went out hunting, but the relative decided to come back home. The family member later called Eyler on his cell phone. Thomson says when Eyler didn’t answer, the relative went to find Eyler, and located him pinned under the ATV.

Thomson says there are not many rules and regulations when it comes to operating ATV’s. “What we suggest make sure you have a  balanced load,” she says. “Whatever you’re carrying, make sure you’re not top heavy. Make sure you don’t have too much of a load on one side or the other,” she says.
