Young Re-Elected BOE President

April Miller elected Vice President.

 


Frederick, Md (KM) Brad Young will serve another term as President of the Frederick County Board of Education. Panel members met on Wednesday and selected Young for another year as their President. He has served in the post for most of the time he’s been on the Board of Ed, except for the years two-thousand-12 and two-thousand-13 when Joy Schaefer was President.

Young was elected to the Board of Ed in 2010, and re-elected in 2014. He is President and CEO of Maryland Financial Planners and serves on the planned giving committee of Frederick Memorial Hospital. In addition, Young is President of the Frederick County Estate Planning Council and a member of the Frederick Rotary, and adjunct faculty member at  Mount Saint Mary’s University. He also served 15-years as a member of the Board of Trustees at Frederick Community College; six years on the Board of Association of Community Colleges Trustees;  and six years on the Board of Advisors for the Universities of Shady Grove.

Dr. April Miller was voted in as Vice President. She is an optometrist at Evich and Nathan Optometry and Optical Center in Frederick.

The other members of the Board of Education are Liz Barrett, Mike Bunitsky, Colleen Cusimano, Ken Kerr and Joy Schaefer.
