Frederick Police Make Arrest in Carjacking Incident

It happened Thursday in downtown Frederick.

 

FREDERICK, MD. (LG)  Frederick Police have made an arrest in a carjacking incident that occurred Thursday afternoon.

It happened Thursday, at approximately 5:32 p.m., according to authorities.

According to a press release,  the victim was driving in the area of Water Street and East South Street, when a female climbed into her vehicle through an open passenger side window.   Police said the suspect asked the victim to drive her to Baltimore. The victim, who declined to do so, instead, drove to the 300 block of East Patrick Street and got out of the car, continued authorities. That’s when the suspect, Deirdre Dean, climbed into the driver’s seat and drove off in the vehicle.

After the car was taken from Frederick, authorities said Dean was involved in a multiple vehicle crash on Rt. 695, near I-83 in Baltimore County. The suspect was transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Dean is facing several charges, including carjacking and unauthorized removal of property.
