Frederick County BOE Seeks Feedback on FY19 Budget

Public hearing will be held on February 7th.

Frederick, MD (January 19, 2018) – The Board of Education of Frederick County (BOE) is seeking feedback on next year’s school system operating budget, fiscal year 2019. A public hearing will take place at  7 p.m. at Frederick High School. Feedback is also welcome via email to [email protected].

Superintendent Terry Alban has released her recommended budget, posted at www.fcps.org/budget and presented it to the BOE on January 10.  If the BOE makes changes prior to its February 7th public hearing, the school system will post updates at the same site. The BOE is scheduled to approve the budget on Wednesday, February 14th. At that time, Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) will post the BOE’s proposed budget online for public review. The budget calendar timeline is also online.

As in past years, FCPS has made a concerted effort to engage the public in the budget process. Opportunities have included a November Twitter chat and budget lunch and learn event, a December 6 Community Budget Forum that included a live interactive YouTube broadcast, the January 4 public release of the Superintendent’s Recommended Budget, and numerous BOE work sessions and discussions, all open to the public.
