Baltimore, Maryland – June 6, 2018 – A hotline for home cleanup after the recent floods is being staffed by several relief agencies from now through June 22, 2018. This hotline will connect survivors in Maryland with reputable and vetted relief agencies that will assist in debris cleanup as they are able after the recent floods. All services are free, but service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming need.
Survivors of recent flooding from Washington, Frederick, Howard, and Baltimore Counties, and Baltimore City are encouraged to call. Volunteers from these agencies may assist you and your neighbors cut and move fallen trees and other debris, remove drywall, insulation, flooring, furniture, appliances, tarp roofs, etc.
“Maryland VOAD is a collaboration and network of reputable, vetted relief organizations that can come to help,” said Sharon Tillman, Communications Coordinator, of Maryland Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (MD VOAD). “Survivors should call 410-449-5415 for help if insurance did not cover their needs and they are comfortable with volunteers working in their home.”
“We are offering this service through June 22, 2018, to help facilitate cleanup by various aid agencies standing by to assist those affected by the storms,” says Tillman. “This hotline will alert multiple relief agencies that survivors need help. All services are free and performed by vetted and reputable relief agencies and members of Maryland VOAD. Response times will vary so we ask residents for their patience while the teams receive and organize their response to help.”
Importantly, this hotline cannot assist with social services such as food, clothing, shelter, insurance, or questions about FEMA registration.
