Truck Driver Dies In Freak Accident At Truck Weigh Station

He was making repairs to his rig when it ran over him.

 

Hyattstown, Md (KM) A tractor trailer driver died in a freak accident at the State Police truck inspection station in Hyattstown off of Interstate 270 on Friday morning.

Troopers say at around 11:30 AM, a big rig operated by James Lee Hobbs, 58, of Salisbury, Maryland was placed out of service because of brake violations. It was moved to the out-of-service lot at the weigh station.

Hobbs was making the necessary repairs to his truck when he failed to put on the parking break. While Hobbs was under the truck, it rolled back and ran him over.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured.

State Police say the incident remains under investigation.
