Authorities say the man was incarcerated for robbery when he directed his girlfriend to have the victim killed.
GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) – A man is accused of working with his girlfriend to kill a 70-year-old Maryland woman in a murder-for-hire plot.
The Washington Post reported Friday that 44-year-olds Paul Bond and Karen Diolamou have been indicted on charges including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Court filings say Bond was imprisoned for robbery in June 2017 when he allegedly directed Diolamou to have the robbery victim killed.
Montgomery County Police say in court records that a prospective hit man Bond contacted through Diolamou reported the scheme after he “became concerned about the request.” County Assistant State’s Attorney Christina Rodriguez has said police then recorded at least one phone call between the man and Diolamou where the killing’s price was set at $500.
Diolamou and Bond are set to be tried in December.
