ELDERSBURG, CARROLL COUNTY, MD. (LG) It was a frightening experience for authorities shortly before noon Friday. This after Carroll County Emergency Communications was notified of a vehicle that was fully submerged in the Liberty Reservoir, along Oakland Mills Road.
Several agencies responded, and upon arrival they observed a small, black vehicle that was approximately 40 yards out in the water, police said. Three deputies, along with a citizen and an Environmental Police Officer all entered the water to attempt to rescue the occupant of the vehicle. They were successful in retrieving the driver and brought him back to a boat ramp, where emergency medical crews were waiting to transport the victim to an area hospital. The man’s condition is unknown at this time.
Baltimore City Police Underwater Recovery Unit responded to assist in bringing the vehicle back to land. The investigation into how this incident occurred is continuing, according to authorities.
