The Urbana High School Girls Soccer Team, champs of the CMC for the 4th straight year! Coach Keith Bauer and Senior Center/Midfielder Isabelle Eskay are the guests on Frederick County Sports Weekend on WFMD this Sunday!
The Urbana team (10-2-2) has such a high seed in the 4A West Girls Soccer playoffs, they have a bye into the semifinals. Their only two losses this year were to private schools Good Counsel and Archbishop Spalding. They are coming off a thrilling 2-1 shootout win over Oakdale for the Central Maryland Conference Championship, a title the Urbana girls have owned for 4 consecutive seasons. Head Coach Keith Bauer and Senior Center/midfielder Isabelle Eskay arrived at the WFMD studios after practice one day this week (see attached photo). They await their first opponent in the 4A West regionals. The Urbana girls were Maryland state champs two years ago and second in the state last year under Head Coach Chuck Nichols. Coach Bauer had been an assistant at Urbana since 2008 and before that coached the Gaithersburg High School Boys soccer team. He says he was ready when the very successful Coach Nichols decided to step down. Isabelle Eskay is headed for George Washington next season. Her 3 older brothers and older sister all have played college soccer. She says she is confident she can do the same. Coach Bauer talks about the Urbana soccer feeder system that has led to so much winning over the past years but he made the point that the Hawks take nothing for granted with the high level of high school soccer played in Frederick County.
