Athlete of the Month – October 2018

Sara Jarman and Simeon Sabvute

Sara Jarman and Simeon Sabvute are the WFMD, Premiere Dental Arts and Buffalo Wild Wings High School Athletes of the Month for November!

Listen to the interview this Sunday at Noon on WFMD Radio, wfmd.com, and the WFMD APP!

Sara Darman of the Urbana High School Girls Cross Country team and Simeon Sabvute of the Oakdale High School Football team are the WFMD Athletes of the Month.

Sara Darman had a winning Month!  On October 6 she won the girls race at the Urbana Invitational in 19 minutes and 58 seconds over the  3.1 mile course.  Then on October 19, Sara took first place at the CMC  Meet in Boonsboro in 18 minutes and 44.4 seconds.  Then to end the month she finished first again, leading the Urbana girls team to the championship title at the Frederick County Meet on the Thomas Johnson High School course on October 25.

Simeon Sabvute is a fast runner too, at least over shorter distances!   You can see the speed if you go to an Oakdale High school football game and watch him in warm-ups!  He has been an all-around football player for undefeated Oakdale this season.  We can recite his statistics like his average of 10.4 yards every time he touches the football.  But one sequence on October 12 against Kent Island High School sort of sums up this guy!  He stripped the ball from a Kent Island runner setting up an Oakdale touchdown.  Then he returned two punts for touchdowns and rushed for another.

These two athletes sit down with WFMD’s Ed Lulie on this Sunday’s Frederick County Sports Weekend.  The show begins at 12:05 pm, Sunday, 11/11 on 930 WFMD Radio, wfmd.com and the WFMD APP.

And in the weeks ahead on WFMD you will hear “live” play by play of Frederick County High School Football on the road to Championship Weekend,  Beginning in December you will hear “live” play by play of Frederick County High School girls and boys basketball games,  and you will hear continuing coverage of  Maryland and Mt. St. Mary’s College Basketball.
